1st Period: Absolute domination by Chicago. Right from the drop of the puck they came out roaring. Just under 8 minutes in, Brent Seabrook snuck the puck past Michael Leighton with a man advantage, giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead. For the remainder of the period, Philly struggled to recover. Kris Versteeg and Dave Bolland also had goals in the period. 3-0 Chicago after 1.
2nd Period: Flyers start it off with a goal by Scottie Hartnell 32 seconds in to the period. They seemed to have control of the game for the next 2 and a half minutes, but then Chicago stole the puck came down and got a goal from their superstar Patrick Kane. And as if the game wasn't crazy enough already, after two icing calls and not even a minute and a half of play, Kimmo Timonen scored to cut the lead to 4-2. Ten minutes of very even, but intense, play go by before Chris Pronger gets called for hooking. Chicago wastes no time with this one, and Dustin Byfuglien nets Chicago's second power play goal of the night to make it 5-2.
3rd Period: The third period got off to a slow start until 6.5 minutes in when Kane lost the puck and the Flyers turned the turnover into a James vanRiemsdyk cutting the lead back to 2. Halfway through the period, the Flyers got a power play, their third of the night, and again could not capitalize. Marian Hossa cam dangerously close to a shorthanded goal to seal the victory for sure, but Brian Boucher quickly covered the puck. With just under 4 minutes of play left, the Blackhawks got a goal from Patrick Sharp to make it 6-3, sealing the deal for Chicago. Simon Gagne netted a goal soon after, and as soon as the Flyers gained possession of the puck again, Peter Laviolette pulled Boucher with 2:20 left and Byfuglien sent one across the rink into the net to put the cherry on top for the Hawks, giving them the 7-4 win.
So far, the home team has won every game in this series, so will Philly be able to force game 7 on wednesday?
